Wow....that camera is great!!!

Today I got my new 'toy'...I love it...and I am sure to have a lot of fun with it. Donna Martin (my blog buddy and forum friend) gave me advice when I asked her what camera to buy. She has a Nikon D70 but has upgraded to the Nikon D90. I was originally looking for a Nikon D60 but got sidetracked and found this one on ebay...and in turn met a great seller. Stu, thanks heaps!!! So...back to today...well I sat on the sofa all day....had a minor distraction when Sara came over...keeped talking about the camera..lol. I was trying to figure out why I couldn't take the shot and see it before I took it like a normal digital camera..and realised that it was a professional camera..and had to look throught the view finder. Then...the rest of the day was spent trying to find the zoom button like in my digital...ummmm there is a great big thing hanging off the front of my DSLR???...need a hint Robby????? Finally the penny dropped...and the fun really began. These are a few of the shots I took today after Pete came home. I am not a professional photographer...but gee that camera makes me feel like one!!! What do you think?

It's so fun to have photography as a hobby. I have a sony camera something or another and I love to take pics. There are things you see through the lens that others don't see. Enjoy!

Hey, look at YOU!!!!!! Glad that you are getting a few things figured out. There is MUCH to learn, as you will discover, such as composition, depth of field, and lighting. Different camera settings will help you with the lighting, but you will need to learn about how your camera "sees" the scene to that you know what settings to use. And composition is really having an eye for what you want to accomplish for the viewer, knowing what your subject is, and keeping in mind the rule of thirds for most shots.

Get in those classes or else start reading a LOT of books at your local library!

I think my favorite of all of these is the one with the cow & house in the distance, and also the two ducks! Keep at it, and it will keep you amused for the rest of your life!

Those are great shots, Robby! My favorite is that cute red mailbox :) I can see Pete driving you around the Scotland countryside- you with your camera, poised and ready to shoot, yelling, "STOP! I see a bird!" LOL Such beautiful scenery there :)
